Limenas -Thassos

Limenas is the main city of Thassos. Limenas has about 2000 inhabitants and is a province of the districts of Kavalla. She is build north of the coast, about 17 sea miles from Kavalla. The town was called Limenas to differ the town from the island's name. Till today the inhabitants are still calling the village Limenas. But with the growing tourism the village was called Thassos. Also on nearly all signs, which are showing the way, the village is only named Thassos. The modern main city is the centre of the tourism. She was build west from the ruins of Limenas. The harbor is after Prinos one of the main harbors on the isle. Here you will find the boat to Kavalla. You will find the bus lines here, too. After the boat to Kavalla, you can find here the bank, police, doctors, post, justice and English speaking advocates. In one sentence, you will find everything you need. South of Limenas there is a place where the inhabitants find the marmour. Every day they cut tons of marmour. They are transported with the boat to dry land. The marmour is as white as snow and really famous all over the world.
