Skala Potamia

Skala Potamia is on the east coast of Thassos. It is also the harbour of the Potamia which was built in the mountains. Long ago the beach was called "water jump". Today they are calling Skala Potamia also Chrysi Akti, which means golden coast. On the other side of Potamia there is the village Chrysi Ammoudia, which is also called golden coast. Together the two villages have a beautiful bay which is surrounded by the glimmering sea in the color of emerald. Skala Potamia is a nice and quiet place. In the last years Skala Potamia became a very liked place and there are a lot of tourists in the main season. The beach is a wonderful place for swimming and to laze in the sun. The villages Skala Potamia and Potamia together count 1.200 inhabitants. The people are working with the business of the tourists and also with agriculture.
