Skala Rachoni
Skala Rachoni is a village on the northwest coast of Thassos. It is also the harbor for the mountain village Rachoni. Skala means the door or the way to the village. However, Skala can also mean "harbor ". According to one legend, tunnels connected the homes of the villages with the harbors. These tunnels were built as security against pirates. Skala Rachoni is built on ground that is very fertile. There are lots of olive trees and spruces. The harbor was built upon the same principle as the harbors of Skala Kallirachis and Skala Sotiras. The inhabitants of Skala Rachoni earn their money through olive trees, agriculture, fishing, and tourism. Skala Rachoni is a quiet village. Because of its small size Skala Rachoni is the place ideal for those searching for relaxation.
