From the ancient theatre you come on a natural path to the Acropolis of Thassos. The Acropolis stood on the first of three hills, approx. 137 meters over the sea level and offered an ideal observation site.

A part of the walls of the Acropolis where built in the 5th century B.C. using the island's marble. Here was the altar of Pythion Apollo, the treasury of the city Limenas and the dwelling from Ieromnimon. Ieromniomon was responsible for the administration and custody of the public fortune.

The initial form of the Acropolis fell with time to many conversions to the sacrifice. The Acropolis consisted of two towers, two cisterns and a secondary church with a semi circular arc. To see the remains of the Acropolis today still that one are to come from the Middle Ages.
