The small picturesque place Agios Georgios is located in the northwest of Thassos, not far from the
village Rachoni.
The initial place Agios Georgios was located some kilometers away in the mountains some hundreds years
ago to be protected against pirate assaults and plundering.

In order to be nearer near the managed fields and olive groves, the place was constructed only a few years
ago at the contemporary site.
The initial village is meanwhile leaved and also in the contemporary Agios Georgios lives only a
hand-full inhabitants.

Next to a tavern which is managed only in the summer there is still the Nikolaus church which is built
in the Romance style.
The life occurs here still aside from the usual tourist bustle and the inhabitants are very hospitable.
Agios Georgios ia an ideal starting point for various excursions as for example to the initial
village Agios Georgios.
